The Casket Girls
The Night Machines
(Graveface)

The Casket Girls continue to live up to their name on this 3rd album of ominous electro-pop, this time with help from T.W. Walsh (Pedro The Lion) behind the drum kit and Andy LeMaster (Now It’s Overhead) turning the knobs. Opting for their own brand of gothic adventure, the calm vocals from Elsa and Phaedra Greene are met with dissonant, shoegaze friendly organs and synth, all with a lo-fi, surreal New Wave influence. While the band certainly know their way around a guitar hook, the darker moments largely fuel this album, and that combined with the subject matter make this a collection of swirling, distorted lullabies for the gloomy.
