Album Review: Gringo Star – “Floating Out To See”

Gringo Star
Floating Out To See
(My Anxious Mouth)

If you still gush over the early sounds of alt-rock like Pixies or The Jesus and Mary Chain, then this DIY Atlanta trio has your name written all over it. Heavy on the reverb and with a penchant for nostalgic sounds of rock, they find a nice place for surf rock, psyche-rock, and even blues feelings to exist. Almost like an audio tour of music from the ’60s on, there’s really something for everyone, including guitar solos, synth work, vocal melodies, and even horns. So much more than your standard indie-rock outfit, there’s a luminous career budding here. (Tom Haugen)
