Album Review: Ladyhawke – ‘Wild Things’

Ladyhawke
Wild Things
(Polyvinyl)

The one woman synth-pop sensation from New Zealand returns, and this time Pip Brown sheds some personal trapping and delivers an even more pop focused version of her universally applauded songs. Complete with radio friendly production and monolithic choruses, this installment soars in a way her early work did, with infectious beats and high energy compositions, that not so surprisingly considering that Brown is now married, revolve around love. Brown is clearly at a great place in her life, and that shines through in these sunny and radiant tunes, that unlike most pop songs, are more substance than fluff. If Ladyhawke was seeking to take up space on the FM dial, this just might do it.
