Album Review: Roddy Frame – “Seven Dials”

Roddy Frame
Seven Dials
(AED)

The former frontman of New Wave sensations Aztec Camera, after a 8 year break between albums, the Scottish singer-songwriter returns with a soulful, sophisticated album that also drags up his ’80s influences. The soft, rich tunes where pianos are at the forefront seem right at home for the troubadour who is now 50 years old, but Frame still has much of his younger spirit alive in moments that aren’t far off from early Aztec Camera days. However, though the best moments are the wistful ballads where Sharp wears his heart on his sleeve. This is what I expect Frank Turner to sound like in 20 years.
