“Erik (director) had a vision for the video, and it was one we would not have come up with ourselves, which makes this video really fun for us, and hopefully for our viewers – it’s kind of a glimpse into a different side of us and the music,” says Leigh Celent of Castle Black.
We wanted to go all out with the blue scenes, really push that visual home. Everything is skewed when the blue filter is on, what is reality, what is not. The red for the scenes where we are playing was just kind of a reaction to the blue. Something that was strongly not blue, but still had the same visual impact.
The video would not have been the same without our good friend Richie Bee (of Deitre) in the role of the Pizza Boy. He completely embodied the role in a really emotive and irreplaceable way.
“Seeing In Blue is taken from the band’s EP Trapped Under All You Know, which is available now on Bandcamp. The band will celebrate with a record release show this Saturday, December 16 at The Well in Brooklyn, NY.
Erik Kops (Director, Purple Throne Productions) added:
“Castle Black intrigue me. To me, their music and vibe touches on the supernatural but still packs that rock and roll punch. I wanted the video to “Seeing in Blue” to reflect that somewhat. I hope it has.”
Some inspiration was derived from the film “The Witches” (1990) starring Angelica Houston, which I saw as a kid and remember thinking witches were real, and perhaps the old lady down the street was one!
Special thanks to the PurpleThrone Productions team, especially Molly Nemer, whose contribution was instrumental. Richie, stick to music, you make a terrible pizza boy!”
