We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Under The Cut’s new music video for their song “Precisely Calculated” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming EP Intuition, which is scheduled to be released through Riffbear Records in late January 2018.
The band commented, saying the song was “about modern day relationships in a world with modern day attention spans.”
Recorded by Sam Johnson (The Smith Street Band, Camp Cope), and mastered by Mikey Young from Eddy Current Suppression Ring, the new release features some notable guests with backing vocals provided by Lucy Wilson (The Smith Street Band, The Sugarcanes).
The Intuition release show, and Riffbear Records label launch, will be held January 20th at The Old Bar in Melbourne, Australia.
Under the Cut (Coerce, Identity Theft) is a Melbourne based post punk band influenced by both post punk and new wave. Despite only forming in 2016 the band has released a well received 7 inch, a full length record, and have played with bands such as Mere Woman, Horror My Friend and Bodyjar. Drawing on diverse influences from acts such as Joy Division and Fugazi the members are no strangers to the live scene, all of them having played in various well regarded Melbourne based punk and hardcore bands.
Vocalist Chris Dee’s drawling vocal style is all the more unique when his lyrical content is examined. As an openly gay person in the punk scene his lyrical content is refreshing, exploring themes unique to his sexuality while also holding a universal appeal.
