We’re pleased to bring you the exclusive stream of Karina Denike‘s new track “Park It.” The song is taken from Karina Denike’s new album, titled Under Glass, out today! The album features guest musicians like Brigid Dawson (Thee Oh Sees), Alex Dessert and Deston Berry (Hepcat), Meric Long (The Dodos) and Ralph Carney (Tom Waits, B-52s).
Karina Denike comments:
“I am so fortunate to count some of my very favorite musicians as colleagues and friends, so naturally they were recruited and guilted into playing on my record. Harmonizing with vocalists Alex Dessert and Deston Berry (Hepcat), Brigid Dawson (Thee Oh Sees), and Lily Taylor ( Pour Le Corps Records) was a total blast as was getting to harmonize lines with Aaron Novik’s bass clarinet. Not to mention having an opportunity to feature Michael McIntosh’s stride piano sass, Ralph Carney classic tenor, James Frazier’s spaghetti Western baritone stylings and Ara Anderson’s mariachi style trumpet. It’s a killer group of people and I’m really excited for people to hear it.”
San Francisco Bay Area fans can find copies of Under Glass at local retailers including: Amoeba in San Francisco, CA and Dave’s Record Shop in Berkeley, CA (she will perform live in-store on Record Store Day 4/18).
An acclaimed vocalist, songwriter, arranger and collaborator, Karina Deniké is best known for co-fronting ska-punk-new wave band Dance Hall Crashers, (MCA, Pink and Black). Deniké contributed lead vocals and vocal production duties to the 2015 release Home Street Home, the musical by Fat Mike (NOFX) and Jeff Marx (Tony Award winner/Avenue Q). “I’ve been working with Karina for over 10 years,” Fat Mike enthuses, “she is always amazing!”
She has appeared on over thirty albums including NOFX (Epitaph, Fat Wreck Chords); Ralph Carney’s Serious Jass Project (Smog Veil); Tony Sly/No Use for a Name (Fat Wreck Chords); Jezebelle (Warner/Discovery); Me First and the Gimme Gimmes (Fat Wreck Chords); 8 Legged Monster; Aaron Novik (Tzadik Records, Porto Franco Records); Mr. Lonesome and The Bluebelles; and Hepcat (Hellcat).
