We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of The Grape And The Grain’s music video for their song “Anything/Everything” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s album Holy Rollin’, which is available now through Boneshaker Records.
The band comments:
“We’re excited to premier our video for ‘Anything/Everything’ from our new album Holy Rollin’ (Boneshaker Records). This was one of the first things we wrote together as this new line up. It began as a jam, and thankfully MO Kelly (Bassist/Vocalist) had hit record on his phone, and we were able to go back, and piece that jam together into this song. Lyrically, it is about a psychedelic experience I had, in a cabin in the Catskill Mountains, and all the things I saw during that trip.
When it came time to record we knew the sounds needed to line up with that imagery. We did our best to tap into our favorite psychedelic and funky musical influences from Prince and Funkadelic, to the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and everything in between. Luckily, we had D. James Goodwin and his collection of odd vintage gear that were put to good use on this record.
For the video, we knew we wanted to represent some of the visual effects one might experience on psychedelics and to capture the film look of the classic rock video era. Most of the videos back then were the bands playing their stage show in front of a film crew. The idea of a premise or storyline was kind of a new thing in the 70’s so you see a lot of really simple rock videos from that era and we love it so we knew we could get away with the simplicity of it all. We hired our friend Ern at Still Nice Media to shoot the video at our favorite local venue, BSP Kingston and we were able to sit with him afterwords and really get the feel and look we wanted. We’re really excited to share the video with you, so sit back, light one up, and enjoy!” – Dan, Steve, Daniel, and MO
The Grape And The Grain began in 2012 as a solo project for Daniel Grimsland (bassist for Woodstock, NY’s progressive rock band ‘3’). Seeking to challenge himself, Grimsland wrote, produced, and performed the entirety of his debut album Better Keep Digging in 2013. Grimsland and some close friends and musicians then recorded and self released the sophomore self titled album in Woodstock, NY at Applehead Recording (Coheed And Cambria, Rich Robinson, Bad Brains).
Grimsland then recognized a need for road ready musicians and collaborators in order to advance. He called on longtime friends and rockers: Daniel Marc (Guitar), Mo Kelly (Bass), and Steven Markota (Drums) to join him in his project.
In 2016, the band returned to Woodstock, NY to begin work on the third LP, entitled Holy Rollin’. The band chose to work at The Isokon Recording Studio with owner/operator D. James Goodwin (Craig Finn, Devo, Murder By Death) who has helped push their classic rock and roll sound to a new and exciting place.
