We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of The Ghost Wolves’ new song “Whettin’ My Knife” (listen below). The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming album Texa$ Platinum, which is scheduled to be released on April 21st through Hound Gawd! Records. You can pre-order the album here.

“Whettin’ My Knife” is track number five on the album. Jonny Wolf explains: “The song is about a music industry dude who screwed us around when we started our band. Carley really wanted to kick his ass, but we wrote a song instead.”

Sample lyrics include:

“You lied to the wrong woman, son
If you see me, you best turn around and run
Cause I don’t get mad, I get even
So you best be leavin’

I’m whettin my knife, cause you wasted my time
I’m whettin my knife, I’m out for your life
Cause no one’s gonna waste my time”

The Ghost Wolves are a wild garage rock, punk, Delta blues duo featuring Carley Wolf wailing on both guitar and vocals and Jonny Wolf wrecking the drums and keyboards. The band formed in Austin, Texas circa 2010. Artists they count as influences include Hasil Adkins, Joan Jett, R.L. Burnside, The Ramones, The Kills, Ronnie Dawson, Death Grips. The Joan Jett connection goes deeper since it was the legendary punk guitar player Cheetah Chrome (of Dead Boys fame) that signed them to their last U.S. recording deal. His own backing band has featured members of the Black Hearts!

Carley Wolf has been featured in Premiere Guitar, SheShreds, Guitar Girl Magazine and has performed live on NPR stations like WBEZ in Chicago.

The band has enjoyed prominent TV and film placements including on the hit TV series Shameless; several programs on the Oxygen channel (Bad Girl’s Club, Funny Girls, Best Ink); an over-the-top trailer for Japanese martial arts film called, Why Don’t You Play in Hell? Not to mention MTV’s Real World: Explosion and for Perry Ellis at Fashion week in New York.

Carley Wolf has collaborated with Tokyo fashion house Hysteric Glamour delivering band art they’ve used for two clothing lines. She also landed a role in the film Mr. Roosevelt which just debuted at SXSW and was written and directed by Noël Wells who plays Rachel on Master of None (Aziz Ansari) and is a Saturday Night Live cast member.

The new album, Texa$ Platinum, drops on April 21st courtesy of Berlin cult rock’n’roll label Hound Gawd! Records.
