Album Review: The Flying Eyes – Burning Of The Season

The Flying Eyes
Burning Of The Season
(Ripple Music)

The Flying Eyes are a band with a clear vision of what they want to play and hear. Treading closely to the same course taken on their previous album Lowlands, the group doesn’t explore much new ground on Burning Of The Season, but what they do offer is 8 solid tracks of riff-heavy rock and roll outlined with the standard psych and fuzz embellishments found throughout their catalog, in a finely-executed package overall. The musicianship is top-notch and the album is very well produced, easily making it the most professional sounding release of their career. Normally I would prefer a little less refinement, but everything works just as it should this time around. Standout tracks include “Sing Praise,” “Drain,” and “Rest Easy.”
