Frontier Folk Nebraska
This One’s For The Kid In The Back: Live At The Southgate House Revival
(Old Flame)

Although I generally consider live albums only necessary for either the die hard fan or those actually at the show, and certainly not a good starting point for the first time listener, these 18 tunes are so well done, that regardless of where you are with Frontier Folk Nebraska, as long as you like rock’n’roll, you’ll be happy. Combining roots rock and alt-rock, the guitars here are just giant and the recordings raw, as the live energy bridges the gap of early Springsteen and modern heroes like Lucero or The Gaslight Anthem. A collection that resonates as loud as their influences, but is as gritty as the band at your neighborhood bar, but also talented enough to fill stadiums, though they may not be from Nebraska nor are they a folk band, Frontier Folk Nebraska are damn good.
