Leopold And His Fiction
Darling Destroyer
(ILA)

Daniel Leopold’s Texas sensations return with a psyche-garage rock influence more suited for Detroit than Austin, complete with a heavy dose of R&B amid pounding guitar rock. While plenty of the tunes here would give Dan Auberbach or Jack White a run for their money, there’s also a very compelling retro feel where horns and Motown or even gospel add greatly to the experience. A thrilling listen, Leopold and company unleash the fury of arena rock from the sensibilities of a basement outfit that even exits on a furious Bob Dylan cover.
