To Write Love On Her Arms held their 9th annual Heavy and Light at House of Blues in Orlando, Florida on April 1st, 2017. The event, held every year during Spring, is an “evening of songs, conversation, and help” that brings awareness to addiction, depression, bullying, and any other type of struggle. The main objective of the night is to encourage anyone who needs help to go out and get it. TWLOHA founder Jamie Tworkowski encouraged everyone to help anyone in need, something as simple as lending an open ear could save a life.
The overall mood of the room was very bright and joyful which was inevitable when you have performances from acts like Jon Foreman (Switchfoot), The Rocket Summer, and Zach Williams (Of The Lone Bellow) with spoken word from Tonya Ingram and Propaganda. Every song performed was intimate and uplifting. Jon Foreman even took the time before most songs to explain what they were about and the struggle he was going through at the time.
If you or someone you know is struggling with depression or addiction, always know that there is help. For a listing of local treatment resources or support groups, visit twloha.com/find-help/help-by-topic/.
