Song Premiere: The Bearer – “Animal or Man”

We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of The Bearer’s new song “Animal Or Man” (listen below). The track is taken from the band’s upcoming album Fiction, which is scheduled to be released on March 10th through Blasphemour Records / Coin Toss Records.

“Lyrically this song is the thought process of Paul in the novel Dune. In the book, Paul is forced to take a test to see if he is indeed human. The test of the Gom Jabbar, where tremendous pain is inflicted on his hand by the Reverend Mother. She said the purpose behind this was to know whether Paul is human, to identify him as a human instead of animal. The lyrics of ‘Animal or Man’ are Paul thinking to himself in order to keep from letting the pain get the best of him, which would mean certain death if he pulled away from the test.” – Aaron (Vocals)

“Musically, this song describes The Bearer. It opens with the sound of the recording tape, which we were lucky enough to track to, then into nasty guitars and finally just starts punching. The song has it all: groove, melody, running riffs, darkness and of course, a breakdown. Although the discretion might make the song sound disjointed, the Black Sabbath-esque riff in the chorus brings it all together.” – Michael (Guitar)
