We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Laureate’s new song “Landmarks” (listen below). The song is the title track from the band’s upcoming debut full-length, which is scheduled to be released on March 24th through Jump Start Records.
Vocalist/guitarist Gian comments on the release:
“When I wrote ‘Landmarks’ I was in a really good place in my life but I still felt lost. I was (and still am) struggling to find a balance between the new and exciting and the familiar and comfortable. It’s about trying to find out what’s truly important when the things that are supposed to make you happy aren’t fulfilling anymore. We decided to use ‘Landmarks’ as the title track because we want the album to stand as a milestone for the band that will remind us of where we were at this time in our lives, even as we all continue to grow.”
Landmarks Track Listing:
1. Northern Dialects
3. Come Around
4. Western Medicine
6. Walk Away
Since their start in 2010 the Montreal pop-rock quartet Laureate has been steadily making progress towards the release of Landmarks, the band’s debut full-length.
Landmarks is more than ten tracks of hook laden pop rock with vocal harmonies and pop sensibilities; it’s filled cover to cover with guitar driven dynamics, catchy sing-a-longs, and dual male and female vocal duties delivered with conviction and an earnest simplicity at times and a convincing spirit at others. Rounded out with honest, unfeigned lyrics it would be easy to compare the band’s sound to predecessors like Samiam, The Weakerthans, or a more vocally pop driven Weezer, but as they say, that wouldn’t do them justice.
