We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of New Native’s new song “It Must Be Nice To Be You” (listen below). The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming EP Swing Low, which is being released digitally on August 12th through Anchor Eighty Four Records.
“‘It Must Be Nice To Be You’ is about the process of making an important decision that will affect your entire life,” says guitarist/vocalist Michael Hanser. “I feel like, whatever the decision is about – whether it’s a new job, breaking up with someone, or moving to another city/country – the process always stays the same. Weighing the pros and cons, talking to people, while constantly wishing that you’re doing the right thing.” Hanser adds, “I found myself in such a situation last winter and wrote the song about a good friend of mine, a restless spirit, who is traveling for his job at least 10 out of the 12 months a year. I’ve always envied him for his open-minded attitude towards moving to a different country and just doing his thing there.”
New Native recorded both tracks for the EP – “It Must Be Nice To Be You” and “Swing Low” – at Left Side Studios in Vienna, Austria. Swing Low is the follow up to 2015’s Soul Cult EP that sees the band trading in reverb and chorus pedals for a softer indie rock sound.
