“I feel this record is really what the band sounds and feels like,” comments Jeremy McGuire of Sports Reference. “With our first EP we recorded it very early not even knowing if we were going to be a band much longer. With this one, it was much different. We really worked on these songs a lot by road testing them. And because of that and our great producer David, I feel like it really shows off what the band is.”
We’re excited to bring you the premiere of Sports Reference’s new EP Somewhere Else (listen below). The EP is scheduled to be officially released through Emocat Records tomorrow, January 5th. You can purchase the EP here.
Joey Johnson of Sports Reference commented on the collection of songs: “It’s like Alkaline Trio writing Balance and Composure songs, but badly. Also it is a collection of ideas from a very specific time in our lives.”

About the band:
The band was originally formed in fall 2015 as way for roommates Joey Johnson and Jeremy McGuire to pass the time. After quickly realizing they wanted to pursue this more seriously, they self released their EP Blue Room, relocated to Gainesville, and began touring regionally and nationally. Reinvigorated, the band has recorded a follow up EP (Somewhere Else) with David Bell (Dikembe) and is poised to show everyone they can this new music which is more focused and showcases the writing abilities of the band.
