Goddamnit joined forces with Traverse to produce a new split EP that highlights the best of both punk, emo, post-punk worlds. The record is out March 13 via Creep Records.
We decided to do a Split 12″ with our friends in Traverse when we first did a tour with them going down to Fest (in FL),” says Arik Victor. “Never meeting each other, we got in a van together for a couple weeks and had a great time and became friends. In November 2019, we toured Europe together. I feel the songs complement each other, but more importantly, the punk scene is about a certain attitude towards life and perspective. Both of our bands share that—and these songs convey it.”
In 2011, Goddamnit formed with a desire to make music that harkens back to the “golden era” of punk and post hardcore. Meshing the emotive sounds of bands like Jawbreaker and The Promise Ring with the ferocious intensity of Quicksand, Goddamnit offer a fresh perspective on a genre that Hot Water Music and Small Brown Bike carried the torch for in the early aughts.
Traverse are a four-piece indie-punk/emo band from Paris, France formed during the summer of ’15 by several members of other bands with the only will to tour more. They released an EP quickly after, and their first (self-titled) album in March 2018 through Brassneck Records (UK), Monster Zero (EU), Fond Of Life (DE), Voice Of The Unheard (FR) among others with several tours in Europe, the U.K. and the U.S. following. Their songs are about failure, politics, depression, and hope resulting in anthemic, sing-a-long, melodic records.
