New Noise Magazine is pleased to be bringing forth the album premiere of Reflection by MAKESHIFT. The seven track release is just a new depth to the group’s harmonious catalogue, taking strides forward with their upbeat pop-punk blend. The chords progressions are more seismic, the vocals more distinct and the times enjoyed ten fold. Take a listen to the brand new musical ambition below and enjoy the dive into early summer that this release offers.
“We wrote this record entirely in a time of transition in all our lives. Not only were we transitioning between members of the band but also in major aspects of each of our personal lives. With that came a lot of hard work and adjustment, but also at times a lot of down time and waiting. This unfamiliar period of transition gave me some time to really look at myself in a way that I hadn’t before; not only in the self deprecating way that I’ve grown accustomed to but also in the ways I’ve grown and in the ways that I want to continue to grow. The last year has held more than its fair share of hardship and heartbreak, and it’s in those times that we really find ourselves and wipe away all the fog, grime, and dirt to reveal our true reflection. This record, to me, is about the love and loss and hours of thought and fear and everything life throws your way as you try to find yourself.” – Andrew Musalo
“As Andrew said, these songs were all written in a very transitional point in all of our lives. Dealing with many losses at once became an extreme hardship for me personally, and writing these songs provided me with one of the only feelings of comfort throughout these trying times. This record has more emotion, more passion, and more meaning than anything our band has ever released. Writing about the loss of loved ones, uncertainty about our future, mental health, and endless other themes was the healthiest way we knew to deal with the things that we all had going. I really hope that by listening to this record, others can find the same comfort and enjoyment that we felt when we were writing it. The finished product that is ‘Reflection’ is something that’s beyond any of our wildest expectations of what we thought it would be and something that we are all so incredibly proud of.” -Dan Burke
