No one embodies the French black metal sound quite like Glorior Belli, and now they are back with a record that is even more furious and refined.

The Apostates picks up where Sundown left off, with pulvarizingly dark riffs that pair well with rock interludes and introspective lyrics. Because of all the tempo changes and hard-to-follow riffing, this isn’t going to be for everyone, but those who have adapted to the frantic, up-tempo pace and strange time signatures of French black metal are going to dig it.

“Bedlam Bedamned” has to be one of the best song titles of all time, and it really delivers as far as furious black metal with cool melody goes. “Split Tongues Won’t Atone” is another great track from the record.

This is a must for anyone already familiar with the band, or looking for some really unique and furious black metal.
