Lost & Profound
Goodbye Mine
(Drunken Boat)

Back from hiatus, Lisa Boudreau and Terry Tompkins (the staples of Lost & Profound) have reunited for their esteemed brand of folk-rock. Though the two have tried their hand in different bands and different genres since their last release in 1996, Goodbye Mine shows us that the duo are still masters of atmospheric, psyche-influenced storytelling. This comeback album, self-described as ‘sadcore’, is a hazy and dreamy excursion into all things plaintive and introspective. However, the music isn’t always gloomy, as bright melodies and Boudreau’s glossy smooth singing both radiate beauty, amid a darker sophistication. (Tom Haugen)
