Luther Dickinson
Rock’ N Roll Blues
(New West)

Though he’s most known for being the former guitarist for The Black Crowes and the current frontman for North Mississippi All Stars, it might be even more impressive that Dickinson played guitar on The Replacements’ Pleased To Meet Me when he was just 14. While the folky, bluesy, country-esque acoustic album might seem like a tired idea in 2014, Dickinson’s strong songwriting prowess makes every tune extremely memorable, as he tells stories of seeing Black Flag as a youngster and subsequently growing into the prolific musician he is today. A humble, organic and extremely enjoyable album, this is acoustic punk and so much more. (Tom Haugen)
