Pop savant Allie X is back with her long-awaited new album, Girl With No Face. It marks her first project release since 2020’s Cape God and features songs such as “Black Eye,” “Off With Her Tits,” and “Weird World.”
Cementing herself as one of the sharpest, most insightful and trendsetting artists in pop, Allie X has demonstrated a bold vision and distinct sound that is light years ahead of its time over the past decade. “It’s very hard to sum up a body of work you’ve spent thousands of hours on, but here’s an attempt. There is a death in this music, as well as the beginning of a rebirth,” she says of the album. “I needed to make something that came completely from me. If only once, and if only to prove to myself that I could do it.”
Girl With No Face marks an explosive reintroduction into the new era of Allie X and is a testament to her artistry and range. With the release of its first single, “Black Eye,” the album centers on themes such as self reflection and truth in a strange world. “I would describe these songs as angry, stubborn, honest, dry, melodramatic, fast, and indulgent, the same way people describe me. I hope everyone likes it but if not, try turning it up a bit.”
