Just one day before she kicks off her Crying At The Party headlining tour, singer-songwriter Allison Weiss unveils a brand new video for “Back To Me” (watch it below). The video, directed by Clay Tatum, depicts Allison on a lengthy quest for acceptance until she finally realizes that the opinions of others mean nothing compared to her own happiness.
A fan favorite off of Allison’s 2015 LP New Love, “Back To Me” was fully inspired by Allison’s love of hope-filled pop music. “I love/hate that pop music makes you feel like everything is going to be okay,” she explains. “In my song, the narrator is ready to give up hope when suddenly a song comes on the radio that makes them believe again.”
It’s crazy to think about how far Allison Weiss has come since she became one of the first musicians to utilize Kickstarter to fund her 2009 debut album ….Was Right All Along. She’s released multiple full-lengths and EPs, and brought her unique brand of indie-pop to crowds all over the globe alongside Lou Reed, The Front Bottoms, The Get Up Kids, Tim Barry and more.
And this past October, Allison released her latest album New Love, dubbed “one of the most memorable records” of 2015 by Noisey. Produced by Forrest Kline of Hellogoodbye and Bradley Hale of Now, Now, New Love finds Allison Weiss drawing upon inspiration from her favorite bands like Tegan and Sara or Swedish pop sensation Robyn and putting her own spin on things. The result? Her absolute best music to date.
