Indie rockers American Wrestlers have shared their newest single “Amazing Grace.” The song itself is a gorgeous tune that combines twinkly guitar tones with airy vocal deliveries. Behind the light roar in the guitars is a dancing piano melody that adds a bit of charm into the tune, giving a cheery air to the tune’s already upbeat pace. “Amazing Grace” is the newest single off of American Wrestlers’ upcoming sophomore release, Goodbye Terrible Youth. The record is out of 11/4 on Fat Possum Records.
Ringleader Gary McClure had this to say about the song, “I wrote this song about having faith and having none. Being lonely in the bigger picture. The rewards and perils of Nationalism and religion. It’s about a certain shade of America, but really it’s an aspect of humanity which gets geographically pinned down. It’s about the election and the arbitrary shards we grab from the breaking chaos to glue together an identity. It’s about choosing misery over love as a solution to death.”
