Anti–Ritual are a hardcore/crust band from Copenhagen, Denmark.
They recently released a seven-inch called Green Terrorism on Interdisciplinarian Records. It’s currently streaming on their label’s Bandcamp, and physical copies are for sale on the label’s website.
The seven-inch is made up of six very short songs, with only one of them coming in at over 90 seconds long. “Permeated” kicks off the proceedings with less than a minute of hardcore craziness with a vocal performance that has the snot-nosed attitude of punk and the growl of death metal. “Weak” then picks up the pace with some really interesting rhythms that sound more distinctly crust. “The Last Humans” really amps up the anger, making for a truly powerful hardcore track.
The album’s title track is one of the most concentrated bursts of fury on the whole album as the drumming, once again, really stands as the backbone of this great track. The deliciously titled “The Ghost of Mary Shelley” starts out a little slower than the rest of the album, but quickly descends into a truly brutal form of chaos. The outro, called “Downfall,” is an instrumental track of discordant guitars that ends the album doing exactly what this band does best.
Anti-Ritual don’t seem to have a social media presence, but you can follow Interdisciplinarian on Facebook and Instagram for future updates.
