They have a new album coming out on October 20 on Tiny Engines called chaos takes the wheel and i am a passenger. The first two singles off the album, “airport” and “redlight,” are currently streaming on their Bandcamp, where you can also order the upcoming album on CD, vinyl, or cassette, and even pick up a band t-shirt.
“Airport” finds the band spending most of the song in pop punk territory, but with an emotional earnestness that speaks to this being an emo band. The very end of the song slows way down to end in an emotionally raw place in contrast to the upbeat nature of the rest of the song. “Redlight,” on the other hand, starts out as a cacophony of screamo rage with the screeching vocals of lead singer Shannon Taylor. It has a bit of a Pixies-esque loud-quiet-loud formula going on here, but even the quiet moments are heavy with emotion. The two singles couldn’t be any more different, which leaves a lot of mystery around what the full-album release is going to sound like in October, but it’s guaranteed to be a quality emo album.
