Bandcamp of the Day: Bandit

Bandit

Bandit are a grindcore band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A few months back, they put out their latest album, Siege of Self, and it’s currently streaming on their Bandcamp where you can also order the album on CD or vinyl.

Opening track “Midnight” starts off slowly with some sparse piano and what sounds like a french horn before the second track, “Butterfly Knife,” comes in and tears your face off with its brutal assault that’s packed into less than a minute. The title track keeps up that onslaught with a brutal pummeling of guitar chords and roaring vocals.

“Juanita” is similarly ferocious, and the Bandcamp also has the accompanying video for the track which is packed with intense live footage of the band. “Mangled Sheep” is probably the most visceral song title on the whole album, and the track is every bit as extreme as its title suggests. Finally, closing track “End of the Rainbow” starts out with some ambient noise but soon launches into a brilliant cacophony of death metal destruction.
