Brahmashiras are a black metal and hardcore punk band from Vladimir, Russia.
This band recently put out their debut, self-titled EP on Caligari Records. You can currently stream it on their label’s Bandcamp, where you can also order the album on cassette.
Opening track “Stew” starts by building atmosphere with a dark and gloomy yet powerful sound that washes over you with how heavy it is. The vocals are about halfway between black metal and punk vocals, which is appropriate given the music. Then “Thrown Stone” takes on more of a punk vibe, with the vocals sounding like a mix between Frank Black and the Devil.
“Sin of Disease,” the album’s shortest song, is unbridled, dark, punk madness at its finest. The band’s own title track is an attack of power chords that drone over a powerful but steady rhythm section. Finally, closer “Faces of Death” is just some classic hardcore with some more metal-style vocals to give it that gothic edge. This is a really fun EP for any fans of both metal and punk.
