Welcome to the working week, rockers! Brunobauer are an indie-punk band from Surabaya, Indonesia. They recently put out a new EP called A View From Inner Circle on Indonesian label Loverman Records, and it’s currently streaming on the label’s Bandcamp.
It opens on “Hancur” with a blistering punk drumbeat, a classic punk bass line, and a killer hook for the chorus. Even if you don’t understand the language they’re singing in, this is an incredibly catchy tune. Then “Mother’s Love” slows it down in a more distinctly Weezer-esque fashion. The brief “Internet Fling” has a sort of Bloodhound Gang vibe on the vocals while the guitars are, again, distinctly Weezer-influenced. “The Fever Song” ends the album on a cross between emo and doo-wop to create something uniquely fun and catchy. This is a really fun EP for any fans of good, old fashioned indie punk and pop-punk.
