Colony Drop are a crossover thrash band from Seattle, Washington who set up shop on the line between punk and metal.
Their debut album, Brace for Impact, comes out on August 25 on Nameless Grave Records and the first two singles are currently available on their Bandcamp, where you can also pre-order the album on CD or vinyl.
First up, the opening track serves as both the title track for the album and for the band with the title “Colony Drop (Brace for Impact).” It’s hard to deny both the hardcore and metal influence in this song, both of which sound like they were excavated from the mid-1980s. The best part of the song, though, comes towards the very end as the chords start coming fast and furiously and leave you with a satisfying explosion at the end. Then “Stand Against the World” is just some truly classic hardcore with all the power, rage, and speed that comes along with that. It promises to be one thrashing, furious full album when the whole thing drops.
