Bandcamp of the Day: Dead Bars

Dead Bars

Dead Bars is a power punk band from Seattle, Washington.

They recently released a new EP called Sinkhole on Really Rad Records. The title track is currently streaming on the band’s Bandcamp, where you can purchase the entire EP and name your own price.

First, the opening, title track has a punk feel, but also a yearning that’s reminiscent of mid-90s post-grunge and a wry self-awareness that’s reminiscent of the Dirty Nil. It’s self-deprecating and dark but also has a note of hope to it, creating a really beautiful contrast. Then “Philadelphia” rings with a gorgeous guitar riff that carries the catchy-as-hell song through a hilarious takedown of the metropolis of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. You’ve probably never seen a track literally called “Hidden Track,” but that’s the title of the last song on the EP with its danceable beat and simple guitar that make for a really fun little ditty.

You can follow them on Facebook to keep up with future updates.
