Dear Darkness are a femme-forward punk duo from Detroit.
The band have a new seven-inch coming out on Remove Records on October 14 called Boozin N Loozin. The first single off the new seven-inch is called “Sex Records,” and it’s streaming on their Bandcamp right now.
The single starts off with a spoken word section before the grimey guitar chords come in. The use of the tambourine gives it a slight ’60s feel at times, but that’s balanced by the droning power chords of the guitars and the delightfully unhinged vocal performance that would make Amyl and the Sniffers stand up and take notice. It’s bursting with punk energy, so much so that the words tumble out quickly in odd vocal rhythms. It’s both classic punk rock and something wholly unique at the same time.
