Bandcamp of the Day: Dogtablet

Dogtablet

Dogtablet is the electronic/darkwave solo project of Martin King from London, U.K.

The project recently released a new album called Black Space Dust & Memories. It’s available right now on the artist’s Bandcamp, where you can also order the album on CD.

The album kicks off with “Diamonds,” which uses sparse instrumentation and a complex beat to create a dark and moody atmosphere reminiscent of the Sneaker Pimps. Then “These Remains,” with guest artist Steven Archer, takes the same elements and dials them up a notch with more synths to create a sense of foreboding in the music. “Whispers,” featuring Coral Scere, opens with some classic piano music over an electronic beat as the passionate vocal performance elevates this song to a whole new level.

“Fall Panic,” featuring Jared Louche, again creates a dark mood with a complex beat in a song that brings to mind some classic Stabbing Westward tracks. Profiler X&W, which features Melodywhore, doesn’t feature singing so much as an abstract spoken word piece over a subtly dark melody and electronic beat. Finally, “Back to the Black” closes the album with probably the most lush instrumentation on the record, but it still creates that sense of darkness and foreboding with sounds that sound like deep voices chanting. This album is a must-have for any fans of darkwave.
