Grave Gnosis is an orthodox black metal act out of Florida. They’re releasing their third LP Pestilence Crowned on December 20, which happens to be the winter solstice. The first three singles off the album are currently streaming on their Bandcamp.
The first single, “Carnivorous Darkness,” wastes no time as the track almost seems to start mid-song. It’s a powerful force of a song with blast beats galore and raging guitars, but the added synths really make this stand out amongst their black metal peers. Then “Ragziel” takes its time a little more with a slow, string-based opening that gradually works in metal elements until, before you know it, you’re embarking on an epic journey across an eight-minute-long track. “Vultures” again uses those synths to great effect to create something with the violence of black metal but with a strong sense of atmosphere like shoegaze. It’s a unique set of singles that promises for a really strong full album to follow.
