IIOIOIOII (yes, that’s the name of the band; it’s pronounced “eye-oh”) is a synthwave band from Charlotte, North Carolina.
They recently released a new digital single called “Frozen Sea” along with an accompanying video and b-sides that’s currently streaming on their Bandcamp. It’s the first taste of their upcoming album Dreaming due out this fall from Distortion Productions.
“Frozen Sea” is a throwback to the best of ’80s new wave and industrial bands like New Order. It’s thoroughly dark and synth-heavy with an infectious electronic beat. The video for the track is particularly trippy and adds to the surreal vibe of the song. B-side “Change Your Mind” is still synth heavy ’80s fair, but a bit more danceable. Then the “Grendel Mix” of “Frozen Sea” adds a new energy to the already really engaging song.
