Irreparable are an experimental metal band from Melbourne, Australia, mixing darkwave and industrial with black metal. The band recently put out a new EP called Complete Emptiness, and it’s currently streaming on their Bandcamp where you can also purchase the record on CD or vinyl.
The album opens up with “Searing Lustre,” which starts off with more of a gothic, darkwave vibe, with distinctly gothic vocals that almost sound like chanting, before moving slowly, over the course of over seven minutes, into black metal. Then “Retribution I: Through the Abyss” builds a soundscape of electronic noise before a very fast, almost punk guitar and comes in with some screaming, death metal-style vocals. The sequel, “Retribution II: Salvation,” is more of a mellow, darkwave track throughout. Finally, the closing track, “Fractured Essence,” combines all that came before it into a mash up of metal, darkwave, and industrial. It’s really an EP that’s equally appealing to both goths and metalheads.
