Bandcamp of the Day: Lafff Box

Lafff Box are a punk band from Germany.

They recently released their self-titled debut on Neon Taste Records, and it’s currently streaming on both their Bandcamp and their label’s Bandcamp where you can also order the album on vinyl.

The record kicks off with “U Bahn” (which is German for “Subway”) which has a sense of quirkiness and whimsy to it,  accompanied by some really aggressive vocals. It’s got a bit of Devo to it, if Devo ever put out a hardcore album. Then “Kai” gets into some more straightforward hardcore.

“Gimmie a Reason” brings back the quirky as it starts out with a strange, distorted collection of voices and sounds before giving way to a blistering hardcore track with some weird, discordant moments. “Talking” starts out with a great guitar riff which then moves from the forefront to the background to become the backbone of the entire song.

“Weird Punch,” “Face,” and “Words” are three tracks that all clock in under two minutes right after each other, with each of them offering their own quirky take on classic hardcore before the closing track, “Waste of Time” takes on a funky beat beneath hardcore vocals for a really fun closer.

Lafff Box aren’t on social media, but you can follow Neon Taste Records on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for future updates.
