M.E.L.T. are a symphonic power metal band from Taiwan. They recently put out their self-titled debut LP which is currently streaming on their Bandcamp.
Beginning with an “Intro” with a full orchestral string section to set the mood, the album quickly moves into “Boiling” with its slick production quality and synths that really add a glammy feel to the metal tune. The drums for much of this album always seem to just be falling short of going into blast beat territory, always just a little too slow for that characterization.
The femme vocals on “Sin” are powerful and confident that gives a sense of strength to the album. It’s hard to deny the intensity of the piano on “My Goddess” that mixes with the synths and strings to make something delicately beautiful. “Still” adds a little proggy element to the synths which adds to the album’s already-epic scope. “Despair” closes the album out by bringing together all the elements that filled this album with so much grandeur to end on a truly glorious note.
