Welcome to the working week, everyone! Shower Curtain are an alternative rock and self-described “bedroomgaze” band from Brooklyn, New York. They recently put out a new single called “Edgar,” their first new song in two years, and it’s streaming right now on their Bandcamp.
“Edgar” has a distinctive shoegaze feel to it without a question, but there’s also a touch of midwestern emo and post-rock a la Appleseed Cast. The fuzzy guitars give the song a very early-’90s fuzzpop feel to it that just wraps you up in a warm blanket of nostalgia. But then it all builds to a powerful crescendo towards the end that makes for a thrilling catharsis. Shower Curtain have yet to release their first full-length, so hopefully this new spark of activity is sign of more new releases to come.
