Bandcamp of the Day: Sonic Demon

Sonic Demon

Happy 4/20 everyone! Light up a joint and kick back to Sonic Demon, an acid fuzz band from Italy who boasts the slogan on their Bandcamp page of “Too slow to play, too stoned to die.”

Sonic Demon recently put out a new album called Veterans of the Psychic War, and it’s exactly the fuzz-fest that your 4/20 called for. It’s streaming now on their Bandcamp page.

Opening track “Electric Demon” gets really trippy, as the fuzz gives way to a weirdly distorted guitar solo the likes of which you’ve never heard before. Then “Lucifer’s the Light” slows things down just a little for a slower, sludgier jam. The lyrics stay fuzzy, too, with the whole thing one beautifully distorted mess.

“F.O.A.D.” adds a classic, driving, hard rock drumbeat to the wall of fuzzy guitars. “Sexmagick Nights” really gets psychedelic with its swirling guitar solos and far out distortion. Finally, closing track “To Hell and Back” is a slow doom song that ends the album with some positively raging guitars.
