SPAD (which stands for Spread Positivity and Die) are a hardcore punk band from Indonesia. They recently put out a split through Upset Conditions Tapes with Easy Targets, another hardcore punk band from Indiana. It’s currently available on the label’s Bandcamp where you can also order it on cassette.
First, on SPAD’s side of the split, “Doubted” opens on some bluegrass guitar that quickly drops away to be replaced by a classic, driving hardcore tune. Then “Locked In” demonstrates a more manic energy as the song builds energy like a coiled spring before exploding.
On Easy Targets’ side, “Cult”has a fast but rigid drumbeat that’s only really allowed to go completely wild in short bursts. Then “No Brain” has more of a chaotic, scatter-time beat that lends itself to the all-out assault in the guitars and vocals.
