Bandcamp of the Day: Superbloom

Superbloom

Superbloom are an alternative rock/post-grunge band from Brooklyn, New York.

They’ve got a new album coming out on June 8 called Life’s a Blur. The first four singles off the album currently streaming on their Bandcamp where you can also preorder the album on digital or vinyl.

First, “Falling Up” seems to begin already in progress as the listener is smacked in the face with a full wall of sound before the distinctly grungy guitars and vocal effects come in. Clocking in at exactly two minutes, this song is a solidly muscular grunge rocker. “Head First” slows things down a touch, but only a touch. Its chunky guitars and sneered vocals bring to mind the early days of Fuel.

“Daisy” gives us even chunkier guitars that become the song’s hook, with their power really driving the song forward. Then “Tiny Bodyguard” seems to come out of left field with something that still has a touch of grunge attitude, albeit without that characteristic grunge darkness, echoing back to one-hit-wonders Vertical Horizon from the late ‘90s.

Check out the full album when it drops in a few weeks. Don’t forget to follow Superbloom on Facebook and Instagram for future updates.
