Bandcamp of the Day: Taking on Water

Taking on Water are a melodic punk band from San Diego, California who describe themselves on their Bandcamp as “simply four punk dads trying to hang in there.” They recently released a two-song single for the songs “I Used to Be Me” and “Intervention” which are off their upcoming album and are streaming on their Bandcamp now.

“I Used to Be Me” is a classic melodic punk tune reminiscent of the best of All but with the drunken swagger of the Dropkick Murphys. Then “Intervention” is a bit more modern in its pop punk approach, but still keeps a touch of that classic ’90s Green Day-esque pop-punk formula. It’s a ferociously fun pair of songs for the melodic punk lover in all of us, and it promises a strong full album when it comes out.
