Bandcamp of the Day: The Get Arounds

The Get Arounds

The Get Arounds are a power pop band from Vancouver, British Columbia. They recently dropped their latest album called I Wanna Live, and it’s streaming now on their Bandcamp.

Opening track “I Want Something More” hooks you in to this album right off the bat with a driving, catchy song with punk rock power chords, big metal guitar solos, and a whole lot of pop hooks. Then “A Long Way to Go” brings in a little bit of melancholy while still keeping those big, powerful chords. The title track has a fast, driving drumbeat that really carries the song, and would make a great song to listen to when driving on the open road.

“Black and White” is heavily guitar-driven with addictively catchy riffs. “Fast Car” is, surprisingly enough, not a cover of the Tracy Chapman song of the same name, but rather a really cool song that’s also perfect for driving. The album has two closing tracks, with “The Last One” being a slower track than the rest of the album that is packed with bitter emotion, then followed by the very last track “Happy Twails,” which features a young child singing the listener goodbye. It’s the perfect way to end such an uproariously fun album.
