Throat Locust are a death metal band from Corpus Christi, Texas.
They recently released a new single called “Gifted the Grave,” and it’s set to be the first song off their upcoming EP out later this year. It’s currently streaming on their Bandcamp.
The track is a pure burst of headbanging madness as the song starts by ramping up the speed before unleashing the full force of their attack. The vocals are gloriously snarling and growling, like death metal should be, sometimes even getting downright guttural. There’s a bit of a false ending to the song about 90 seconds in that really draws contrast to how hard and heavy the song is when it comes back. If this track is any indication, it promises to be a very exciting EP.
