Our Bandcamp of the Day comes from self-proclaimed “archaic and ecstatic noise ‘n’ rollers” Trainer. The German combo do well to live up to the title with the lead singles for their upcoming debut album Athletic Statics.

The three singles shared thus far have the hallmarks of ’90s noise rock; some debt to the early dissonance of no wave shows through as well. There’s an echo of Unwound’s disjointed compositions on “Three Times Slower,” signs of Melvins style riffage with “Once In A Lifetime,” and an emphasis on Slint-like rhythmic complexity for “El Tren Oscuro.”

Athletic Statics will be released on vinyl and CD via Fidel Bastro on June 6.
