Tsubo are a grindcore band from Latina, Italy.
They recently put out a new album called Capitale Umano on End of Silence Records. It’s currently streaming on their Bandcamp, where you can also order the album on CD.
The record kicks off with “Stretta Sorveglianza,” a short, 90-second burst of pure grindcore with a syncopated rhythm that can stop and change on a dime. Then “Overdose” keeps that formula going with a dual vocal performance that goes to absolute extremes. “Ultimo Colpo” slows down the beat just slightly at the beginning until the drumming becomes an all-out onslaught of noise.
“Arma Ideologica” uses short, staccato chords in an almost punk way, but with that same rapid-fire syncopated drumming while the vocals are spoken rather than screamed. The title track is basically just a wall of sound as the instruments all come together in a machine-gun-esque rhythm to produce one of the fastest, tightest songs on the whole album. “Equilibrio Instabile” closes out the album on a really complex guitar riff played repeatedly while the vocals take on a more distinctly death metal style to them.
