Vinsta are a melodic death metal band from Salzburg, Austria.
They’re gearing up for the release of their third LP, Feiwitn (which translates to Free) which is out on July 28 on Eisenwald Records. The first three singles are available to stream now on their Bandcamp where you can also preorder the new album on CD or vinyl.
The first single, “Schwoaze Låckn,” really puts the “melodic” in “melodic death metal” with the combination of masc and femme vocals that, at times, are more sung than screamed and the use of string instruments in addition to the powerful guitars. There are some growled vocals, too, giving this sweeping, nine-minute song a lot of range.
The second single is “Wundaberg,” and it starts off creating atmosphere in subtle ways and developing melody before the guitars rip through to take control of the song. It’s a very riff-heavy song with slightly more aggressive, death metal-style vocals, but still keeps that strong sense of melody throughout the song. It’s clearly more than just the typical death metal wall of sound.
Finally, the third single, “Vinstas Valonga,” gives us a much more traditional death metal vocal performance that snarls and growls the lyrics. The drums are absolutely pummeling at times, but the guitars don’t get overly aggressive, making sure to build that sense of melody along with the power that comes with death metal. It looks to be a great album for anyone who likes their death metal to have a lot of nuance to it.
