We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Black Lime’s music video for their song “Mania” (watch it below). “Mania” interlaces primal elements of indie with the unapologetic raw energy of punk – an explosion of unadulterated rock ‘n’ roll.
Elliot Mann of Black Lime commented on the video:
The video has quite a lot of hidden messages and we don’t want to give the game away too much, which is kinda actually the whole point, but they’re not personal to us so when you figure it out it might be cool, it might not. But basically the whole video is in our protagonists head, and he’s playing out these situations with us, the kinda wrench monkeys, helping in his psycho-endeavour. It’s all a bit strange innit!
Recorded by Humberside indie producer Pat Pretorius (Neville Staples, LIFE, La Bete Bloomes, LUMER & Vulgarians) at Hull’s own A.O.O Studios, the hard-hitting riffage, thunderous percussion and dark lyrics of Mania illustrate the trials and tribulations of modern life, drawn from the band’s experiences of their own wild and unhinged times. Channelling influence from acts such as Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys and Led Zeppelin – with a ‘’hefty blend of grit’’ added to the mix – “Mania” stays true to the band’s aim of broadcasting a bold, genre-fluid and ultimately unique sound.
Talking about the release, Black Lime make their intentions clear – ‘’We always set out to deliver a unique sound and we only get better at that with every song. ‘Mania’ is the epitome of ‘what the hell is going on’ so we want people to get stoked and inject a burst of energy.’’ Their songs are also reportedly driven by psychopathic tendencies, according to a source within the band… although these can be neither confirmed nor denied!
